What is "Genova velvet" - Definition & Explanation

Genova velvet
A type of velvet where in Jacquard patterns are woven into the ground fabric and where the pile is made of a combination of cut and uncut (loop) pile. This fabric is also known as Venetian velvet, or more generally, as ?pingl? velvet. In the actual terminology of furnishing fabrics it is mostly named with its French name 'velours de G?nes'. This kind of fabric is made on a wire loom or ?pingl? loom.
